We are officially official!

After 9 months of hard work, I am bloody excited to officially open Sentient Eyes to the public.

Tech. Fashion. Quality. A new approach to blue light protection.

Beginnings

Todd and I (Clay) run a marketing agency here in Perth, WA. When you spend as much time on screens as we do, you wonder about a few things.

Is three monitors a good idea? Those desks that let you lay down look kind of excellent? Should we buy matching tracksuits? 

You also wonder about blue light and its effect on our eyes, sleep and overall health. 

This led us to looking into (pun intended) blue light blocking glasses.

The world of blue light blocking

It's a jungle out there.

While a range of glasses were available, there were trade offs across the board.

Cheaper blue light glasses brands weren't concerned with style and looks, lens quality was questionable and the hinges and acetate (or plastic!)  felt as you'd expect; cheap temporary.

Wellness brands were definitely more focused on lens quality and blue light blocking technology, but models were limited and style still took a back seat.

Fashion brands delivered on style but with minimal focus on blue light blocking, and gaming eyewear brands were less fashion and more novelty.

The opportunity was clear.

Sentient is born

As heavy tech users, we wanted focused products that delivered for tech lovers everywhere. Photographers, videographers, designers, gamers; anyone who creates and uses screens alot.

As people with faces, we are quite particular about our faces looking somewhat acceptable. So style and fashion also needed to be front and centre.

Finally, we had to decide what level of quality we wanted. 

In our agency work together, Todd and I disagree on plenty. The one thing we always agree on is high quality work, done in a way we can be proud of. We brought this sentiment to Sentient. 

Lenses, acetate, hinges, inlays, style; all our glasses are of a standard that we are proud to put our names to.

Launch Collections

With clear foundations around quality, style and technical approach, we built two collections based around blue light blocking lenses. 

A day focused work enabling clear lens, and an afternoon/evening amber lens for sleep improvement.

You will not believe the number of hours spent thinking about how to name each model! I wanted tech feel that felt stylish, while avoiding search engine monster names like “Black round shaped blue light blocking glasses with amber lenses”. Yuck.

We also pushed hard for a second colour of each frame design, ensuring a different style option was available.
